Philippines - Center for Biodiversity Conservation 
Reports to: Vice President, Asia and South East Asia 
Philippines
Conservation International is seeking an Operations Director to oversee the Finance, Administrative and Human Resources functions for the Philippines Center for Biodiversity Conservation (CBC). The Operations Director will guide the program in the development and implementation of sustainable management strategies, support fund raising efforts, set operational management standards, and ensure that human and financial resources are aligned and maximized for the greatest conservation impact. This position interacts with the regional network of Operations heads in the region and with Conservation International Headquarters. 

The main duty of this position are the implementation and management of practices and guidelines in the area of Finance, Human Resources and Administration to ensure attainment of program business plans for growth and sustainability. This includes leading the financial management of the CBC through the adoption and implementation of sound financial and grant management, accounting, budgeting and oversight of audits, leading the the Human Resources function ensuring that HR programs are developed and implemented effectively and ensuring effective and efficient operational capacity for the program, supporting fund raising efforts by oversight of development of cost proposals and donor management functions. In all functions, the Director will ensure compliance with local and global standards, policies and practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads Financial Management area to ensure sustainability,  efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Provide oversight and guidance over contractual, external grants and incoming donor agreements
  • Lead the Human Resources function, ensuring that HR programs are developed and implemented effectively and in compliance with local and global standards, policies and practices
  • Ensures effective and efficient program operational capacity, managing the HR, IT and Finance functions and teams

Working Conditions:

This position will travel 30% of its time to other Philippines offices and to CI headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, USA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills:

Technical Competencies (Knowledge):

  • Bachelor's Degree or equiavlent degree in Finance and/or Business Administration
  • Sound knowledge of financial and business practices
  • Sound knowledge of HR function and practices

 General and Specific Skills (Experience):

  • 7-10 years related experience in management of operations (administration, finance, human resources, grants resources and donor management) functions for an international NGO
  • Strong supervisory experience
  • Experience with diverse funding environment including US and European governments, multi-laterals, and large foundations
  • Solid business acumen
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in management of technology
  • Understanding  for effective problem solving and decision making models
  • Capacity to analyze trends and tendencies and to translate this information in the review and development of the CBC’s strategic directions
  • Capacity to plan, prioritize and implement with a strategic approach
  • Strong facilitation skills to involve strategic contributors in key processes leading the senior management team to reach agreements

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to communicate in the official local language of Tagalog
