The Operations Director works with the Divisional Leader to ensure effective and efficient management of the division’s business planning and operational processes. In this capacity the Operations Director defines strategies; clarifies roles; assesses operations performance of programs; and takes steps to address and remedy areas of concern. The incumbent will guide programs in their development and implemention of sustainable funding strategies, setting standards related to operational and financial management, ensuring that human and financial resources are aligned and maximized for the greatest conservation impact. The position reports directly to the Divisional Leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs business planning processes and activities by coordinating efforts across country programs to assure timely completion of workplans and periodic reporting on progress
- Implements practices and guidelines to ensure the adoption and implementation of sound accounting, budgeting and auditing practices
- Ensures that HR programs are developed and implemented effectively and that general administrative support is effectively provided
- Implements practices and guidelines in the area of operations to ensure attainment of business plans for growth and sustainability
- Provides mentoring and guidance to Program Operational leaders/staff. In all functions, the Director will ensure compliance with local and global standards, policies and practices.
Working Conditions:
The person holding this position will have to travel between 25-35% of the time.
The person will need the skills to build relations and lead multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:

A degree in Business Administration or equivalent, or demonstrated equivalent experience, with 8 to 10 years work experience and general knowledge of the principles, processes and requirements of the operations of project management in a large organisation preferably an NGO or consulting organization

Advise and co-ordinate division-level budgeting and financial planning including monitoring, analyses, long-range forecasting, identifying risks and making recommendation on resolutions

High level of problem solving skills, judgement, and initiative. Demonstrated ability to devise and oversee implementation of operational systems which streamline processes while adhering to institutional policies; assist managers to address complex performance, capacity and financial issues

Strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills with the capacity to simultaneously deal with a number of issues of varying priority

Able to meet reporting and administrative deadlines in a timely manner and to a high standard often under difficult circumstances

High level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers at various levels across the organisation. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
